M.L. Magalhães

Overview

About

M.L. Magalhães was created in 1956 in Rio de Janeiro and was one of the pioneers in manufacturing corporate furniture in Brazil. M.L. Magalhães emphasized the aesthetic qualities of its furniture lines. Until the early 1970s, the company produced furniture for both the home and office environments, and its design followed the trends of modernist furniture in Rio. M.L. Magalhães' advertisements frequently emphasized their furniture's aesthetic qualities, which used to sell more than just pieces, but a lifestyle. M.L. Magalhães still produces furniture nowadays, but its design has changed radically since establishing a partnership with designer Freddy van Camp, who would later become the company's design manager in 1996.
