Brazilian modern design 

Originally published in 1995 " Modern Furniture in Brazil", is the most important publication about the thematic. It is contexts the Brazilian industrialization and, consequently, the modernization of furniture. Amplified and revised this edition extends the production until the days now, presenting some of the new generation of Brazilian designers.

Written by a titular design teacher of FAU_SP, Maria Cecilia Loschiavo, the book became an icon of the rediscovery of the Modern Brazilian Furniture that started 20 years ago, bringing up his history and lighting up his lost treasures.

The author tells us how the Brazilian modern reached the furniture production, under the influence of the Week of Modern Art in 1922 and the first expressions the Modernist starting a new aesthetical language.

The presented design has origins in this "new way of living," Lina Bo Bardi wrote exhaustively about it - after leaving Italy in the post-war. The debate about the process of "transformation of the house" and the "living space" shaped the manufacturing and the commercialization of the modern furniture.
