    RESEARCH

We are committed to cultural and historical values present in Brazilian design and above all to originality.

We invest in iconographic and archival research, expanding our collections of historical images as well as documenting - records, catalogs, commercials, advertisements, interviews.

In contemporary pieces, we leave aside mass production and focus our approach on authorial production.
We value material research, focusing on cultural aspects our country carries, such as handcraft, African and European influences but always interested in local solutions to develop our contemporary pieces.

We seek unique pieces, creative solutions, consciousness, and developing durable pieces.

    RESTORATION

"It is part of our job to prevent, delay, and repair the natural damages caused by time and use."

The distinguished creations in mid-century Brazilian design have the potential to tell stories about who we are, transport us to the past, trace paths to the present, and allow us to glimpse into the future.

After forty years of use, even the most comfortable lounge chair in the room loses its comfort. There are natural transformations in the materials due to the passage of time, and we count on a multidisciplinary team of researchers, artisans, and craftsmen with considerable skills working together to achieve the best results according to each project.

Research and restoration are allies. Research supports us while thinking about techniques and materials, while restoration tells us about the truth of the material. The undeniable marks of the passage of time are signs that help us to identify the original pieces and – equally important – the fake ones guaranteeing they are not in our collection.

Restoring a piece of furniture makes new experiences possible through its materiality, carrying the legacy of Brazilian design.

    HANDLING AND PACKING

Packing is an act of care for the piece.
Whether to store our collection or for shipping, we take care of all the minor details, from the fabric that wraps every piece to the specially made-to-fit wooden crates.

Our furniture pieces are stored in vertical structures, optimizing space, and enabling safe storage. All items in our collection are packed and identified with labels, following museological parameters.

We believe that documentation is an essential step in taking care of the collection, and that is why we systematically record all the processes of the furniture's trajectory with us. Each new item is individually examined, measured, weighed, photographed, and receives a preliminary condition report to guide the following steps of the restoration processes. We also provide complete documentation of the acquired pieces for our clients, with an Authenticity Certificate and an informative material about the Artwork and the Designer.

The same care extends to shipments. To guarantee the piece's safe travel, we use layers of packaging with different materials, carefully wrapped as a rare and unique gift. Packing for us is a ritual because unpacking is always a ritual. It is the beginning of a new story. A relation between collector and creation.

    OUR FOUNDER

Isabela Milagre graduated from Belas Artes University in 2018 with a degree in architecture. Over the past eight years, she has dedicated her career to researching and preserving Brazilian mid-century furniture, culminating in her signature project: Bossa Furniture. A specialist and curator, she is the leading researcher on Carlo Hauner and Martin Eisler, and signed the first exhibition ever dedicated to the duo: “Carlo Hauner, Martin Eisler and the Modernization of Furniture in Brazil.”

She also curated “Workspaces: Redesigned Through Time” at Mendes Wood Gallery in São Paulo, and more recently “Joaquim Tenreiro: Inventing a Modern Tropical Living” in New York, a landmark exhibition that explored the material intelligence and radical spirit of one of Brazil’s most important modern designers.

Isabela leads Bossa’s team of researchers, curators, commercial specialists, and restorers, operating between São Paulo and New York. She brings a trained eye for original and unique pieces, guiding our team in delivering exceptional service to international architects, collectors, and design lovers—always with a commitment to knowledge, authenticity, and the legacy of Brazilian design.
