This desk is a rare and elegant piece designed by Carlo Hauner (1927-1997) and produced by Móveis Artesanal in the 1950s. It presents a top in pau-marfim wood supported on iron feet, two drawers on the left side, and a black painted glass top.
The company Móveis Artesanal was a pioneer in the country in allying with success in a design office with a modern language and a serial system of fabrication in innovative commercial spaces. The company, which was founded by Carlo Hauner – who later partnered with Martin Eisler (1913-1977) and Ernesto Wolf, produced furniture with a rationalized design and followed the idea of industrial furniture – extremely functional and carrying an orthogonal design.
