Available with or without casters, Kiko is made of solid Caviuna and has an upholstered seat and back. Sergio Rodrigues (1927-2014) created the Kiko Armchair in 1964 for the Itamaraty Palace, the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil. The building was designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer and inaugurated in 1970. The piece belongs to a series of commissioned furniture for the ministries' offices in the new capital, Brasília.

At the time of construction of the building, the diplomat Waldimir Murtinho, responsible for the work, and the architect Olavo Redig de Campos, then head of the Itamaraty Heritage Conservation Service, sought Sergio Rodrigues at Oca, his gallery shop in Rio de Janeiro, and commissioned the design of a work table for the offices of the ministries in the new capital.

With the success of the piece, many other requests came, such as the Kiko armchair. Today, those who visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs find several copies of the furniture in the waiting rooms.
