We hereby certify that the item described below is an original design by Sergio Rodrigues (1927–2014), one of the most prominent figures in Brazilian modernist furniture. Renowned for his mastery in blending traditional craftsmanship with modernist principles, Rodrigues’ work played a pivotal role in defining Brazil’s mid-century design identity.
The Bloch Desk was created in 1965 as a special commission for the headquarters of BLOCH EDITORES S.A., a major Brazilian publishing company active from 1952 to 2000. The piece embodies Rodrigues’ signature use of noble woods, clean lines, and functional elegance, making it both a utilitarian object and an emblem of Brazilian cultural history.
This desk is an original work, crafted in Brazil, and part of Rodrigues’ rare commissioned pieces. It is being exported to a private collector as an example of his lasting contribution to modern design.
