This piece is one of Abraham Palatnik's (1928–2020) collectible vintage Mid-Century Lucite sculptures inspired by Brazilian diverse fauna. All made of acrylic and pigment. He was an artist and inventor renowned as one of the pioneers of kinetic and optical art. Born in Natal, Brazil, Palatnik was a founding member of the Grupo Frente, alongside Ivan Serpa, Lygia Clark, Franz Weissmann, and Ferreira Gullar.

Initially trained as a painter, he abandoned traditional methods in favor of experimentation with light, movement, and mechanical systems, which led to the creation of his groundbreaking kinechromatic devices. Palatnik’s sculptures and kinetic objects are celebrated for their innovative fusion of technology and aesthetics, positioning him as a central figure within the international Op Art and Kinetic Art movements of the 1960s. Today, his works are represented in major institutional collections, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; and the Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP), consolidating his legacy as one of Brazil’s most influential modernists.
