The 1950s proved to be politically and economically favorable to initiatives related to industrial production. The Polish naturalized Brazilian architect, Jorge Zalszupin (1922-2020), presented itself as one of the most versatile. His work as a designer, entrepreneur, and manager is an example of a transition process from the artisanal production mode, with unique and custom pieces, to serial industrial production.

Jorge Zalszupin designed the “801” sofa in the late 1950s for his Brazilian mid-century design firm L’Atelier. Comfortable, delicate, and elegant, this piece synthesizes the production of Zalzuspin: elegant, well made, and with unique details. The tapered wooden feet, straightforward frame, and slightly angled arms are the highlights of this sofa.

    This piece is unrestored.
