We’re proud to present a new publication dedicated to A Casa Paulista, the exhibition that marked the opening of Bossa’s new gallery in São Paulo.

Conceived from an ongoing process of research and documentation developed by Bossa, the book proposes a new perspective on modern interiors in São Paulo during the 1950s and 1960s. Rather than presenting furniture as a set of isolated works, it looks at these pieces as part of a broader domestic experience, restoring the relationships between furniture, architecture, and everyday life.

Taking its title from Carlos Lemos’s homonymous work, A Casa Paulista appropriates not only the title, but also its methodological perspective: to understand space through culture. Through historical works, archival references, interiors, and documentation, the publication investigates how modern furniture became part of a new domestic culture, articulating architecture, design, art, and industry.

With a focus on Branco & Preto and Forma S.A., the book brings together the figures and companies that helped shape a new approach to interiors in São Paulo. Presenting more than 50 historical designs, it offers an essential view of one of the most innovative moments in São Paulo’s modernist production.
