The Eleh bench is a furniture piece from the 1960s designed by Sergio Rodrigues (1914-2012). Its structure is a veneered wood box covered with Rosewood veneers and four solid Rosewood feet with chromed details. Like many designers of Rodrigues' generation, he dreamed of commercializing well-designed pieces produced in series.
This versatile piece can be used as a bench and also as a coffee table.
In 1962 "Meia-Pataca" factory-cum-store was launched. The idea was to expand distribution and reduce production costs. Industrial thought is visible in the structural solution, applying juxtaposed wooden pieces of a square or rectangular section and straight corners. Other furniture pieces like the "Franco" sofa, the "Tonico" armchair, and "Vronka" follow the same structural thought.
The Eleh bench is unrestored; a wood restoration service is included.
