  • AMAURI, THE WOODMASTER

    MAY 8, 2020

  • "Hands of Restoration" is a three-chapter series, intends to present the artisans responsible for the multiple processes involved in the restoration of modern furniture. The third Chapter presents Amauri, responsible for bringing back the beauty of Brazilian woods; found on most pieces of 1950 and 1960 design production.

    Amauri Silva, wood restorer.

We aim at minimal least, but when a table Joaquim Tenreiro was painted off white, or when a dining chair by Martin Eisler brokes one leg, its time to work with the same level of craftsmanship of the old masters. In Midcentury design "Restoration" means bring up the comfort, the function, the usability that has been lost of many decades of usage, but preserve original details and marks of time. This "behind the scenes" presents the manual work and tools involved in this practice that goes through generations.
